A high street brand collaboration isn't a new concept but each one manages to seem more appealing and accessible than the last. Sometimes they make little sense but this certainly isn't the case with the River Island Design Forum and their recent Sibling collaboration.
While River Island and Sibling sit in different markets, they both target a young, fun consumer - one who's playful with their sartorial choices.
Sibling's first foray into the High Street is a resounding success. It's hard to go wrong with a patterned two piece - there's something about that effortless mix and matching that always works.
The collection launched during London Fashion Week with a short film presentation party in Shoreditch, the heart of East London. Sipping back mini bottle of prosecco through straws (my ultimate way to drink prosecco, just fyi), the event kicked off with a panel discussion about subculture, exploring the influence of music in fashion and the impact of social media and the digital landscape at present.
Following the panel's short discussion, we then watched a few short films including River Island's x Sibling collaboration fashion film, which was produced by i-D magazine. The short film features Ella Richards, granddaughter of Rolling Stone's legend Keith Richards, styled in the collection by i-D's own Julia Sarr-Jamois. It's cute and as cheeky as it is tongue in cheek.
