The best thing about what I do is that you never know quite where it will take you. Last Wednesday saw Elyse and I head to Koko where HP were throwing a huge bash in celebration of Star Wars: The Force Awakens (17th Dec) and their new entertainment service #HPLounge.
As a venue, Koko is one of my favourites. The tiered viewing platforms, enormous chandeliers and outside smoking area that overlooks Mornington Crescent make every gig there something special. We kick started the evening with a meet and greet of Star Wars characters - no, really.
A little while later and we were taken down to the green room to meet Years & Years. Fully aware of how popular the boys are, it was lucky to have met them and have a chat about the gig before they went on to play to the stellar crowd that HP had pulled in to see them.
Their performance was something else. The atmosphere in Koko turned electric and as Years & Years opened, the lights slowly came up and the crowd went wild. Their fans are the most loyal kind, the ones who know every word and see nothing daunting about belting it out along.
Lead singer Olly's energy was contagious; his non stop choreography and stage presence reminiscent of a young Justin Timberlake fronting NSync.
There was just enough time to squeeze in the BB8 challenge at the end before hitting up Uber and heading home.
Thanks to HP and Years & Years for a great evening!
