I have an odd story for you all. Cast your minds back a few weeks ago to London Fashion Week and then back again a few days and what was it that landed in my inbox? An email from a friend who happened to be working with Lewis Hamilton. "Millie, what parties do you know of during LFW? I'm looking to get Lewis Hamilton involved in some."
Of course, I knew who Lewis Hamilton was but what I didn't know was WTF did he want with some mediocre parties that I'd know about at LFW? It turns out Lewis Hamilton has his fingers in a few pies and fashion is one of them. And of course, he got invited to much more glam parties than I did in the end but didn't end up being in town for them anyway.
In fact, the Grand Prix is somewhat of a fashion icon's fantasy these days. There's glamour, adrenaline and heaps of cash involved. Martini has the likes of Bar Raefali on board as one of their Global Race Ambassadors: "I come to Formula Ones and Terrazza Martini and have fun! When they asked me to be an ambassador, I was like, 'Is this a real job or is this a dream come true?"
There's no doubt that racing is a man's world - there are only two females who work for Formula One. Scottish test driver and Williams Martini Racing member Susie Wolff (pictured above) is one of them. The injection of fashion and global ambassadors such as Raefali could see this all change though. Better late than never though, hey?
