With her blonde, wavy hair, svelte figure and bubblegum pop tracks, it was fair to expect a performance laced with rainbows and sprinkles of glitter that would fulfil every young girl's dream from Florrie on Thursday night at her H&M Loves Music event. I shamefully judged a book by its cover and I couldn't have been any more wrong. There was nothing sickly sweet about the energy and vibrance in the young British musician's performance as she sung, playing her guitar centre-stage.
Had I of done my homework a little better, I would have already known that before launching her solo career, Florrie had played the drums for Kylie Minogue, Girls Aloud and the Pet Shop Boys - the musician swinging around her guitar to her back, so that she could bash out some beats, wouldn't have come as such a surprise. I would have also learnt that Florrie fronted a Nina Ricci fragrance campaign and had Karl Lagerfeld sit her front row at a Chanel show. With a CV that impressive, it's no surprise that Florrie kept her audience in the H&M store captivated.
Pre and post performance, guests were invited to have their nails manicured and their illustration drawn. The latter was so popular we didn't get a look in! Champagne in hand, we beelined for the photobooth and to browse H&M's latest collections.
Thanks to H&M for the fun evening!
