The past few years have seen the switching up of many creative heads among labels, Diesel included. Creative child of Renzo Rosso, Diesel was born over 20 years ago and since the take over of Nicola Formichetti, previously the creative director of Dazed and Confused and brand consultant to names such as Alexander McQueen and creative director of French fashion house Thierry Mugler, Diesel is just as relevant now as it was back then.

While I'm obviously slightly reluctant to share the Pre AW14 campaign image due to the absolutely stunning girl kitted out in the same leather trousers, it's far too bloody cool not too. Nicola Formichetti and SHOWstudio's Nick Knight joined forces once again, creating the ultimate creative team and producing a mind-blowing result.
“We were looking at many of the great images, from fashion advertising to fine art, that have shaped our way of looking at things. We wanted to bring them together – pop Picasso-style! – through the use of the digital medium," explains Nicola. "In many ways it was looking at the ‘great group shots’ through history, from Michelangelo to Avedon. Now the Diesel Reboot is complete, this is the foundation of the new vision for Diesel. And with new beginnings there is always a certain looking back to look forward, here it appears as a sort of ‘Neo-neoclassicism’ in the campaign.”
And so why the collaboration? Diesel have a pop up shop in Selfridges and we want you to all go have a visit! I spent one super fine afternoon with the Diesel team there testing the Pre AW14 waters. I was totally torn by what piece to pick for the post. I nearly left with the leather bustier dress (which you can see on Ella here) but in the end, even with my lack of supermodel legs, I couldn't leave the leather trousers behind. I'd happily skip summer right now to spend (what is likely to be the entire) winter in them.
