Step aside Mr Wang, DKNY has got luxury sportswear covered for the Resort '14 season.
When Karl Lagerfield said "Sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life so you bought some sweatpants", he was clearly oblivious to how important comfortable style would become in our hectic everyday lives; joggers and oversized sweaters are now worked into collections and gracing the runway on a regular basis.
DKNY is leading the ranks in dressing women in an effortlessly stylish way. Gothic lace and glittering sequins married against oversized, transparent bombers and slouchy joggers disguised as trousers, create a harmonious mix of the casual and the chic. Bursts of metallics and pops of colour break up an essentially monochrome DKNY collection, and fabricated in a plethora of varying textures, the collection is as interesting to touch as it to look at.
DKNY's Resort '14 collection may be the epitome of high-fashion sports luxe but, while I do love the collection, there's nothing entirely fresh brought to the catwalk here. Bombers that swamp a women's silhouette teamed with joggers and heels, a cap and some disco lamé completing the look; now, where have we all seen that before?
