This time last week I was preparing myself for one of the most prestigious events I've been invited to since I began blogging.
The realisation that I was going to be in a room amongst some of my favourite designers left me pretty nervous. I had no idea what to wear but luckily, 5th House PR helped me out and lent me 5 stunning dresses! I finally decided on a white SS13 Shakuhachi dress. If you've followed my blog recently you'll be well aware of my new obssesion...
The awards took place at The Savoy and I attended alongside a small number of other bloggers.
Any nerves I had disappeared after the first glass of wine or so as we were sat together for an amazing meal in the most lavish of settings.
The Global Fashion Awards were presented by Cat Deeley in a whirlwind. I had clued myself up on the nominees for each category but there were some surprising results.
The emerging designer award went to Emma Yeo, whilst the Catrice Womenswear Designer went to Victoria Beckham; I had geared myself that Alexander Wang had the award in the bag, clearly to be proven very wrong.
Denim Design team went deservedly to Levi's Commuter Series; after their stunning SS13 press presentation a few weeks ago there was no doubt that they would win.
Topshop won Womenswear Design Team and Hackett were awarded the Menswear Team of the year. Another worthy mention goes to Mr Porter, who won best E-Store over Matches and ASOS!
After the awards had been presented it was time for the after-party. Ella from La Petite Anglaise took me under her wing; we drank and mingled with some of the most fantastic people in the industry.
Ultimately my favourite encounter of the night was with Hilary Alexander - I'm sure she'd have no idea who I was if we met again though but it was certainly memorable.
