CSM BA Show//Class of 2012.

The Central Saint Martins BA show announces many great designers who subsequently vault to success and this year's show was no different. Held at the new spacious King's Cross campus on Tuesday, the show opened with L’Oreal Professional Young Design Talent Award winner Erin Hawkes. Hawkes layered enormous denim trousers with silky white aprons, teamed with oversized checked bomber jackets. The models were adorned with plain black hats hosting their own apron, shaped to frame their faces.

My favourite young designer, Alan Lee, was awarded first runner up. I was sold from the moment the first model hit the runway in a beautifully crafted white shirt tucked into wet look baggy trousers. The rest of Lee's offering included more fluid silhouettes with an air of sportswear about them. Hues of navy, black and white, injected with some colour, were plain yet sophisticated.

Second runner up was awarded to Serena Gili, creator of streamline oval-shaped skirts, coupled with magnificent bibs.

Also worth mention are Aisling Farrell and Ting Kelly Yan. Farrell brought another extremely wearable collection to the catwalk. Her standout piece was see-through coat filled with polythene balls, the only photo I captured didn't really do it justice.

Fashion Knitwear student Ting Kelly Yan showed promise and wowed with her eccentric lampshade dresses and beautifully intricate detail.

Whilst you are sitting watching the various pieces saunter up and down the catwalk, it's hard to take in the essence of the outstanding talent that each Central Saint Martin student designer possesses, purely due to the vast amount of pieces you are see. It's not until you sit back and reflect on the show that you realise the aptitude of these young designers.

They may have only just finished university but I'm sure it won't be long until we see these talented designers stepping up to bigger and brighter things.
