It was from the frow of Pringle's AW12 catwalk at London Fashion Week where I ultimately began crushing on Alistair Carr. The ex-Balenciaga designer joined Pringle of Scotland just over a year ago as design director, following the departure of Clare Waight Keller.
The decision of his departure was said to be mutual but who knows what that really means. Carr will continue to lead the creative team on the Winter 12/13 campaign and show his menswear collection in June. The CSM graduate has shown his own collections for the past three seasons at London Fashion Week but his next steps are unknown. The Pringle inhouse team of designers will create all future collections.
Carr's departure will also see the demise of Pringle's catwalk shows. Offerings will be given in form of a presentation instead.
I'm feeling pretty heartbroken at his departure. Carr has injected an essence of youth into the brand, bringing the cool girl next door, who we all wanted to be, to life. Can you honestly imagine anyone else bringing bringing Dalston vibe dip-dyes with a preppy undertone to Pringle. I certainly can't.
